Kingsbridge and District Churches Gathering
You are warmly invited to join us for our
Fifth Annual Bible Weekend
17th - 19th October 2025 with Bishop James Grier & Revd. Dr. Liz Grier
“FLAWED BUT CHOSEN” Lessons in discipleship, faith & failure from some of the people closest to Jesus
What’s it all about?
- Why did Jesus choose such flawed disciples?
- How were the disciples changed by their encounter with Jesus?
- What can their example mean for us as equally flawed disciples?
Come along to the Bible Weekend to find out more.
Introducing James:
James has been Bishop of Plymouth for 3 years. He loves his job, not only because he’s a Plymouth lad but also because his episcopal area covers the whole of south west Devon, including the South Hams, Torbay & most of Dartmoor. What better place is there to be a bishop?
Introducing Liz:
Liz started out as a scientist, became a professional musician & is now a theologian. She’s currently an associate lecturer at St. Mellitus, Plymouth, whilst also studying for a PhD looking at forgiveness in the psalms.
Together James & Liz have written a book entitled “Normal Imperfect Heroes - the ‘failures’ God used to teach us about leadership”. James started writing it on his own but failed, so Liz rewrote it with him. Their teaching at the Bible Weekend will build on some of the material from the book. Copies of the book can now be ordered from WORDWISE, Fore Street, our own Christian Resource Centre. A s we come together as Christians to share our excitement & passion for God’s Word, we hope to see ourselves afresh as part of the story of God’s mission in Kingsbridge & the South Hams, & how we can play our part together in his purposes. Do come and join us!
